China is not just shackling Hong Kong, it is remaking it

A quiet week on the China front.

  • After the National People’s Congress, ‘election reform’ in Hong Kong, the dustup between the U.S. and China in Anchorage, and China’s going all ‘Wolf Warrior’ on the EU, that’s not such a bad thing.

A break in the action lets me take a step back and address some of the big issues and a couple of interesting ones.

  • So today we cover: how Taiwan is the perennial thorn in U.S.-China relations; why Elon Musk is a Chinese superhero (step aside Jack Ma); why Xi Jinping is really a benevolent reformer of Hong Kong; why the U.S. and China are not in a Cold War; and why you had better pay attention to the changes in the international order or, like the slow-boiled frog, get cooked.
