Zhang Yujun, an ethnic Han and Ph.D. in Economics and Law, was born in Shifang City, Sichuan Province in May 1963.

He is currently CSRC (China Securities Regulatory Commission) Assistant Chairman and Member of the CSRC Party Committee.

Zhang was Deputy Director-General of the General Office of CSRC in May 1995, and was named Vice President of Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) in October of the same year. In November 1997, he was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of CSRC, held the concurrent position of Director-General of Foreign Affairs in 1998 and was named Executive Deputy Director-General of Policy Research in October 1998. In June 1999, he became Party Secretary and Director-General of Shenzhen Securities Regulatory Office and began to serve as President of SZSE simultaneously in August 2000. He was appointed Party Secretary and President of SZSE in October 2000, and later worked as Deputy Party Secretary and President starting in September 2001. In February 2008, he was appointed Deputy Party Secretary and President of Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE). He was named Member of the CSRC Party Committee in August 2012 and appointed Assistant Chairman of CSRC in September 2012.
